What to Expect at Your First Counselling Session

Taking the step to meet with a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) is a meaningful move toward supporting your mental well-being. At Crescentmoon Foundation, our goal is to create a safe and comfortable space for you from the very beginning.

During your first session, your therapist will walk you through confidentiality and the overall structure of counselling, so you feel informed and at ease. You’ll also have the opportunity to share what brought you to counselling, including any challenges, past experiences, or goals you’d like to work toward.

This session is designed to help your therapist understand your unique needs and to begin shaping an approach that fits you. It’s also a chance for you to ask questions about the therapist’s style and the counselling process.

By the end of the appointment, you and your therapist will decide on next steps together—whether that means setting goals, planning follow-up sessions, or simply taking time to reflect before moving forward.
